Late Dr. Vasantrao Pawar, recipient of the prestigious Dr.B.C. Roy award, was the Ex-Sarchitnis of MarathaVidhya Prasarak Samaj (MVP). He passed away on 7th October 2010.
He procured the official permission to start the medical college in 1989. Through his relentless effort, the medical college has now acquired the status of a multidisciplinary post graduate institute with a Hi Tech super specialty hospital.
As a mark of respect and gratitude to his contributions, the college was named after him as Dr. Vasantrao Pawar Medical College Hospital and Research Centre on 4th April 2010.
Despite his busy schedule, as MLC for Nashik, he took personal interest in the routine functioning of the college. Patients and students always remained his primary focus.
